Top level Schools
The Shuttleworth Foundation is putting Linux into classrooms in the Western Cape. Wizzy Digital Courier has a pilot project to put Email and internet into those schools.

The Shuttleworth Foundation, founded by Mark Shuttleworth, has a mission to bring computers and, particularly, Open Source to schools in South Africa. Mark made his fortune with Web site security services and is putting the money back into South Africa.

The Schools Linux User Group (SLUG) project is but one of these, with the aim of kitting 80 (mainly township) schools in South Africa's Western Cape with Thin Client Linux computer labs. TSF provides the computer hardware (a big server, 20 cheap thin clients using refurbished computers) and Local linux user groups provide volunteers for the installs.
Needing an Internet solution that was affordable to these schools, TSF are piloting Wizzy Digital Courier.
